In We Are Legion (We Are Bob), did you enjoy nuts‑and‑bolts problem‑solving with real physics and engineering?
You enjoyed watching Bob iterate tech, optimize propulsion, and MacGyver solutions while his von Neumann probes fanned out. Project Hail Mary gives you that same meticulous, science-forward thrill: lone scientist Ryland Grace reverse‑engineers alien biology, builds tools from scratch, and works through orbital mechanics on the fly—complete with the kind of ingenious fixes Bob pulls when protecting the Deltans or outmaneuvering rival probes.
In We Are Legion (We Are Bob), did you enjoy galaxy‑spanning exploration that leaps across vast distances and centuries?
If the sweeping scope of Bob cloning, spreading across star systems, and stewarding fledgling civilizations hooked you, A Fire Upon the Deep delivers an even grander canvas. If you liked seeing long‑arc consequences of Bob’s interventions, you’ll love how these parallel viewpoints crescendo into a grand, thoughtful payoff.
In We Are Legion (We Are Bob), did you enjoy mind uploading and the existential puzzles of copies and identity?
Bob’s transition from scanned human to proliferating digital minds invites big questions—what makes a person, and what do copies owe each other? Permutation City dives headlong into those same brain‑twisters, exploring simulated people, divergent copies, and the unsettling freedom of software selves. If Bob’s debates with his other instances and his ethical line with the Deltans intrigued you, Egan’s razor‑sharp thought experiment will absolutely light up those circuits.
